Kostas (K. Voutsas) is employed at an appliance shop, where the proprietor is trying to arrange a marriage between him and his daughter Betsy. They eventually get engaged, even though Betsy has romantic ties elsewhere. Meanwhile Mary (N. Valsami), after a tragic love affair with an Englishman, decides to commit suicide.

She is fortunately dissuaded by Kosta, who she persuades to act the part of an English son in law, from London, in front of her father. This is when Kostas' absurd adventures begin...
